By Train
Newcastle is well situated on the British Rail Network. Sunderland connects into this system. There are trains to London almost every half hour from Newcastle and these trips are made in less than four hours time. Trains also run to Manchester, Middlesbrough and Liverpool. If you do choose to travel by rail while in England, you should know that it can be quite expensive. You often can save time and money by purchasing a BritRail Pass.
The Stadium of Light is accessible by the Metro system and is situated to the north of the center of the city. The Stadium of Light station stop is about a 10 minute walk from the grounds. It is possible to travel between the Stadium of Light and St James’ Park, home of local rivals Newcastle United, without changing trains - although the journey involves a long detour via the coast.
