Getting There & Away
Parma is well-connected by all major transportation methods, and even has its own airport – so no matter where you’re coming from you’ll be able to reach the city relatively easy. Of course, if you’re coming from further away (especially outside Italy) you’re likely to have to change planes or trains somewhere along the way, but that’s easy enough to do. And once you’re there, don’t forget to take advantage of all the attractions and experiences the area has to offer in addition to the soccer.

By Air
Parma’s airport is the Giuseppe Verdi Airport (PMF), which sits roughly 3km northwest of the city (vaguely toward Milan). There aren’t many airlines serving Parma, but among them you’ll find budget air giant Ryanair and the beleagured Alitalia. The airport is right on the A1 highway, making it easy to get into the city center by car (if that’s your plan). Parma’s #6 bus runs between the city’s train station and the airport every hour from 6:30am until 8:00pm, and then from the train station you can get a city bus to the station (or walk, depending on your preference and the weather). There are also taxis just outside the airport terminal, and it’s not a very long trip into the city center.

By Train
The main railway station in Parma, Stazione di Parma, sits at the northern edge of the city center. It’s well-served by trains coming from points all over Italy, although if you’re coming from a smaller town or from outside Italy you may need to change trains in a major hub like Florence, Milan or Rome before you arrive in Parma. Once you’ve gotten to Parma on the train, you can take a city bus to your hotel or directly to the stadium on the other side of the city center. There are taxis available outside the station as well, and if you’re staying in the city center the distances aren’t great. For that matter, if it’s a nice day and you’re not carrying much you might just decide to walk – Parma is a very walkable city.

By Road
From the Giuseppe Verdi Airport in Parma, head south to get onto the ring road – the Tangenziale – that circles Parma. You’ll get on the Tangenziale Nord at exit 8 (Quartiere Crocetta) heading more or less northeast. Follow the Tangenziale Nord (also called the SS9) as it circles the city, getting off at exit 2 (Via Mantova). Then follow Via Mantova southwest. This road will eventually bend slightly right at an intersection, where it will also become Viale Partigiani d’Italia. Continue on this road and you’ll see the stadium on your left.
