Getting There & Away
Bologna is the primary city of the Emilia-Romagna region, and so is easily reached by air, rail or road. The city center can be a nightmare to drive & park in, so if your hotel is in the historic center you may want to skip the car altogether or make sure you’ve arranged for parking ahead of time.

By Air
Bologna International Airport (BLQ) is the closest airport to Bologna. It’s also called Guglielmo Marconi Airport, and it’s just 6km from the city. As such, it’s a very short (and cheap) taxi ride into Bologna – it should be about €15. Alternately, there’s a dedicated bus line that connects the airport to the city – it’s called the Aerobus, and a ticket for that costs only €5. Bologna’s airport is well-served by a number of European airlines as well as many serving destinations further away.

Forli Airport (FRL) is considered a second airport for Bologna. It’s about 45 minutes from the city center, so not as convenient for the stadium, but it’s the airport that European budget carrier Ryanair flies into. There are buses that connect the Forli airport with Bologna’s central train station – it’s a roughly one-hour journey, and it’ll cost you about €15.

By Train
Despite the fact that it’s not on most tourists’ to-do lists, Bologna is a major rail hub city. This is mainly due to its physical location in the country, but whatever the reason, the outcome is the same – there are regular trains coming into Bologna from all over Italy and Europe, including many high-speed train options. High-speed trains from Milan take just under 2 hours, and from Rome it’s just under 3 hours.

By Road
From the Guglielmo Marconi Airport, head away from the airport on Via dell’Aeroporto. At one point, you’ll need to turn left in order to stay on this road. Get onto the A14 headed for Bologna. At the Rotonda Benedetto Croce, you’ll get off the A14 to take the 3rd exit onto Viale Togliatti. At the Rotonda Luciano Romagnoli, take the 2nd exit onto Viale Mohandas K. Gandhi. Then turn right onto Via Montefiorino, and then a slight right onto Via Andrea Costa. The stadium will be on your left.
