Getting There & Away
Cagliari is a big enough city, but it’s on the island of Sardinia just about midway between Italy and Spain in the Mediterranean - meaning that even if you’re already in Europe, you’ll have to either fly there or take a boat. Luckily, Cagliari’s got its own airport and plenty of ports for ferry services.
By Air
Cagliari-Elmas Airport (CAG) is Cagliari’s airport, and it’s located northwest of the city center in the town of Elmas. Cagliari is served by both commerical and charter airlines, and you can get into Cagliari on a special ARST bus which runs regularly from the airport to the city center. The bus ride will cost you roughly €1.
By Train
If you’re coming from elsewhere on the island of Sardinia, then you can take the train to Cagliari’s central station - the station is south of the city, partway between the city center and the stadium, and you can either hop on a bus to the stadium from there or walk there.
By Boat
There are regular ferries which leave the ports of Civitavecchia, Naples, and Livorno on the Italian mainland (or from Palermo and Trapani on the island of Sicily) and will bring you directly to Cagliari. The ferries drop off near the train station, roughly halfway between the city center and the stadium. It’s an easy bus ride or walk from the port to the Stadio Sant’Elia.
By Road
From the Cagliari-Elmas Airport, make your way through town toward the SS130, or Viale Elmas. Get onto the SS130 heading south, but then get on the SS195racc in order to continue in the proper direction. The SS195 is also called the Nuovo Raccordo. Take the exit for E25/Via Sant’Agostino, and continue along the E25. Then you’ll turn left at Calata Roma/E25, slightly right at Piazza Attilio Deffenu, and again slightly right onto Viale Cristoforo Colombo. You’ll need to turn left to stay on Viale Cristoforo Colombo, which will then veer slightly to the right and become Viale Salvatore Ferrara. The stadium is at your left, and some of the parking areas are to your right.
