Getting There & Away
Glasgow isn’t Scotland’s capital city, but as one of it’s industrial centers it’s a major transportation hub. There are two airports to choose from, and two major train stations as well.
By Air
Glasgow International Airport (GLA) is about 13km from the city center, and is Scotland’s biggest and busiest airport. Its schedule includes frequent and regular flights to and from points throughout the UK and Europe, and there are also direct connections with the US, Canada, Dubai, and even a weekly flight to and from Pakistan. Glasgow International is the main hub for Loganair. To get into Glasgow from the airport, you can take the shuttle bus - it’ll get you to the train stations in about 20 minutes for about £4 one-way.
Glasgow Prestwick International Airport (PIK) is actually outside Glasgow by about 50km, but it offers another choice if you’re having trouble finding the right flights into Glasgow International. It’s possible you’ll find a better deal into Prestwick because this is the airport Ryanair and other European budget carriers use. There’s a train station at Prestwick to get you into the city; the trip is roughly 45 minutes, and there are two trains every hour. Show your airplane ticket stub or other flight information you can get half-off the train ticket price.
By Train
There are two large train stations in Glasgow - Central Station (also known as Glasgow Central) and Queen Street Station. From points south, you’ll likely arrive at Glasgow Central, and from points north, you’ll likely arrive at Queen Street. There’s an overnight train from London called the Caledonian Sleeper that takes about 8 hours, and a round-trip ticket is roughly £100.
By Road
From the Glasgow Airport, you’ll head east toward Caledonia Way E. From Caledonia Way E, you’ll take the 2nd exit at the roundabout onto White Cart Road. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit onto Sanderling Road. At the next roundabout, take the 2nd exit toward Edinburgh/Glasgow/M8. Almost immediately, you’ll turn right at St Andrews Dr W, and then turn slightly right to merge onto the M8. After 10 miles, you’ll take the exit for B763 at junction 14. Stay right at the fork and follow the signs for Dennistoun/A8. Turn right at Viewpark Ave, and then continue on Alexandra Park St. Take a slight left at B763/Cumbernauld Rd, and continue on the B763. Turn left at A74/London Rd, and then left again at Kerrydale St. The stadium will be right in front of you.
